2021 & 2022 Recipient of the
MTO German-Australian Opera Grant
Baritone, VIC

Darcy Carroll holds a Bachelor of Music (classical voice) from the University of Melbourne and a Masters of Opera Performance from the same institution. Over the course of the Masters Darcy has performed the roles of Sid in Britten’s Albert Herring, Jupiter in Offenbach’s Orphée aux enfers and Gianni Schicchi in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.

As part of the Richard Divall programme Darcy performed the 2nd Prisoner solo in Beethoven’s Fidelio, and workshopped the role of Figaro in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro.

Other recently performed roles include Papageno in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (Lyric Opera Studio Weimar) and Frank in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus (Berlin Opera Academy).

Darcy won the 2021 MTO German-Australian Opera Grant but due to Covid and respective difficulties leaving the country his start at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden was delayed until their Spielzeit 2022/23.
