The German-Australian Opera Grant
This Grant includes a one-year employment (junior) contract with the HESSISCHES STAATSTHEATER WIESBADEN (August 2019 - July 2020), one month of German language tuition at the Goethe-Institut (July - August 2019) and one month of work experience at the Opera House (June 2019) for an insight into procedures prior to the official start. An adequate amount of money will ensure that living costs are covered. The Grant recipient also receives a cheque for $4500, which will help in the preparation stage for the time overseas.
The Grant will be given to an outstanding emerging Australian opera singer in the early stage of their professional life with operatic stage experience capable of meeting the high quality standards of this major German Opera House.
The value of this Grant is approximately $75,000 which includes a return airfare to Germany.
The recipient must have previous operatic stage experience. It is necessary that the Grant winner has a sound knowledge of German, or if not, is prepared to complete an intensive German language coursewell before departure.
The Grant incurs the obligation to perform at two events without remuneration: an operatic reception for Sponsors of the Grant before leaving for Germany and upon return an operatic receptionor "Master Class" to provide feedback on the overseas experience.
